When the founding partners of NorthStar Mergers & Acquisitions first began considering the
idea of forming a new M&A advisory firm, the one question that had to be answered was simply
“why?” Why go through the effort of building an organization from the ground-up? Why take
the financial risk of leaving comfortable situations? Why strip the typical M&A processes down
and build them back better? Why?
While the answer is simple, the solution was tremendously complicated. We believed the
existing M&A solutions available to business owners in the lower-middle market were largely
unreliable, unprofessional and ineffective. We saw an opportunity to create a new firm, built on
a foundation of principled ideals and client-forward objectives, with the professionalism,
motivation and expertise that every business owner should expect from their trusted advisors.
That’s what NorthStar is all about, and our vision boils down to three core values.

There is one undeniable truth about business ownership – every business owner will exit his or her business eventually. Period. You can’t run it forever.
With that inevitability in mind, we approach our responsibility to our clients with a sense of open-mindedness and creativity. We want to understand a business owner’s objectives, goals and wishes, then combine those desires with creative solutions that ultimately lead to our clients’ dream exits. NorthStar was founded on the principal that there has to be a better way to serve the business owner community when it comes to M&A advisory services. Blazing these new trails became our collective mission, and what resulted was NorthStar’s Transaction Navigator™ – our proprietary M&A process management tool. But innovation cannot stop, lest you get left behind, so we continue to look for new opportunities to enhance the services we offer our clients.

EDUCATES
The Business Transitions Summit is a transformative one-day event designed to empower business owners with strategies for building value and achieving their dream exit.
The Summit offers a variety of resources, including strategic insights and networking opportunities with like-minded business owners, industry experts, and advisors. The agenda includes keynote speakers, panel discussions, and breakout sessions, all focusing on growing business value and preparing for that eventual transition. BTS started in North Texas but has expanded into other markets across the country and will continue to grow its reach as new markets learn about the importance of educating local business owners.
ELEVATES
The unfortunate reality is that for every business that comes on the market (for whatever reason), only 17% achieve a successful exit. You read that right. 83% of attempted business transitions never reach the closing table. Mastery Partners is on a mission to change that. We elevate businesses to achieve maximum value and reach that dream exit. Of course, one of NSM’s objectives is to maximize its clients’ values and facilitate successful business sales, but that’s not its primary focus. What makes NSM’s perspective unique is a focus on the “terms within the terms” of a transaction.
